Shelters Built on Men

This painting has many sources of inspiration and the shared theme deals with our society's perception and expectation of masculinity. As boys grow into men there are many burdens and weights placed upon their shoulders and they are expected to rise to the occasion without hesitation. We build lives, relationships and sometimes hopes on the shoulders of men who are afraid to fail or ask for help. Men deserve to have moments of  weakness, vulnerability and sensitivity because these are necessary components of the human experience.  A man who allows himself crumble can learn to rebuild himself stronger.
